3D animation
September 2023
The visual flow, created by incorporating organic-shaped objects, animated lights, and experimental ambient sound, takes the viewer on a short journey. Based on the simple story of a butterfly and the light that continuously searches it, I have focused on creating a sensory animation through the interactions between glass-made objects and light, as well as synchronising the animation with the sound.

Each part of the tree—roots, base, and branches—has its distinct structure and visual elements. The flowers, mushrooms, and leaves were meticulously modelled, using basic structures of actual plants with some tweaks. Additionally, three different types of glass materials with varying levels of opacity were applied to enrich the visual experience as light passes through.

The animation process was challenging as it involved animating the movements and intensity of light, the path of the butterfly, and the camera's motion. Furthermore, these animations needed to seamlessly synchronise with the ambient sound.
I approached this process through meticulous planning and numerous experiments. While I can't claim full satisfaction with the final outcome, I am certain that I've learned a great deal about composing a visual flow for animation by comparing the initial plan with the actual result.
